Patients know David’s voice
MANY will know the voice, but few
the face of 32 year old David Hutchins, who two years ago last weekend joined
the staff of the North Humberside hospital broadcasting service.
David, of Cherry Garth, Beverley,
is one of the radio station’s resident disc jockeys, and since joining he has
interviewed many celebrities including Val Doonican, Cilla Black, Morecambe and
Wise, Gene Pitney, Des O’Connor, Max Bygraves and many others.
Although time consuming and
purely voluntary, David, a married man with three children, said this week that
he enjoyed the work because it helped to cheer up unfortunate hospital
patients.
When not at the stations studio
in Wellington Street, Hull, David is employed as a confectioner baker at Rambla
in Beverley.
The Hospital Broadcasting Service
plays requests for patients in most hospitals in Hull, and for those in
Beverley Westwood hospital, and Driffield General. It is hoped to begin
broadcasts to Walkington's Broadgates Hospital in the early part of next year
when new studios are completed in Beverley Road, in Hull.
The station broadcasts every day
except Saturday and it is hoped that people wilt relatives or friends in
hospital will make use of the record request form printed here.
