Hospital radio to welcome Mayor
BEVERLEY's Lord Mayor, Councillor
Nev Holgate, is to hit the airwaves next week to help celebrate 39 years of
hospital radio.
He will be asked to pick his
favourite hits and discuss life in the East Riding town, on Wednesday, August
16.
Dave Hutchins, who has been
spinning the disks for Kingstown Radio since 1972, said: 'I am from Beverley
and I thought it would be nice to have the Lord Mayor on - especially since
Beverley Westwood is on of the hospitals we broadcast to.'
The station broadcasts on 1350MW
to Westwood, Hull Royal Infirmary, Kingston General Hospital, Princess Royal
Hospital, Hull Maternity Hospital and Castle Hill Hospital.
It is run by volunteers and moved
into a new studio at the HRI site, Anlaby Road, last October.
Mr Hutchins added: ' We are
always encouraging people who have got relatives at hospital to phone in with
requests - people love to hear their name on the radio.'
