Hospital radio getting better
HOSPITAL radio is getting better
- and that's official.
Patients recovering in the city
and East Yorkshire hospitals will soon be able to lie back and listen to a new
improved radio station
Kingstown Radio, which is one of
the oldest hospital radio stations in the UK, will shortly become one of the
first to move on to wide band FM transmissions.
The station, now in its 36th
year, will be able to provide high quality reception to hospitals in this
region.
Run entirely by volunteers, the
radio service now aims to provide a whole list of benefits to its listeners.
The improvements include new
studios in Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital, 24 hour broadcasting
and outside broadcasts.
The Chairman of Kingstown Radio,
Mr John Fulstow, said the move to FM was one of the most exciting developments
for hospital in the city.
He added: 'FM will provide a
better quality of reception and enable us to extend our service to other
institutions with a special receiver.'
